New artwork questions our relationship with technology.
01/11/2021
In a relatively short space of time, our reliance on technology has reached a point where robots are increasingly a normal part of our everyday lives. However, while huge sums of money are being invested in developing the technologies, what other challenges does technology bring? Are we in danger of losing sight of what makes us human? Numerous research studies illustrate that technology alters human physiology thereby presenting ethical and moral questions about our relationships, and society as a whole.
The latest artwork entitled REFLECTION focuses on the impact of technology on the human brain. The digitally manipulated images of the brain scans used in the accompanying video 'REFLECTION' (WARNING: this video contains flashing images) illustrate the areas of the brain that are stimulated when exposed to internet use. The artwork also poses the question of how you see yourself and technology, can you see yourself reflected in the work?
You can read more about the rationale behind this work in the artificial intelligence (AI) and technology gallery.
